- Dry, sweet and vintage cidar. - Red, white and rose wine (750 ml contains approximately 50 mg phenylalanine). - Champagne and prosecco. - Port wine and sherry. - Dry and sweet vermouth. - Spirits: whisky, gin, vodka, rum, brandy, tequila and martini. Please note pre-mixed drinks and cocktails (e.g. alcohol + lemonade may contain aspartame). Alcoholic ‘creams’ and some liqueur’s such as Amaretto and Advocaat (containing egg) will contain protein. Beer contains a significant amount of phenylalanine. Generally, the stronger the beer the higher the protein content, because it usually contains a higher malted cereal content. 600 ml beer will vary between 75 to 100 mg phenylalanine. |
